Devens to Get New Addition
Seven Hills Academy at Devens is expanding! Construction is underway to increase the Academy's size by 6,000 square feet. This new addition will include more classrooms, a cafeterium (a gym and a cafeteria combination) as well as more parking. The expansion will allow the academy to enroll 12 additional students.The new addition should be ready in June 2008.
The classrooms at Seven Hills Academy at Devens are designed to offer academic and behavioral programs to children with autism spectrum disorders, dual diagnosis, and severely challenging behaviors. Each classroom offers programming that utilizes an interdisciplinary team approach built upon the principles of applied behavioral analysis combined with positive behavior supports. Seven Hills Academy at Devens staff work to improve the abilities of the students who attend the program and enhance their life options. In addition to Special Education Teachers, the classroom day may include individual or small group time spent with a Reading Specialist, Speech and Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, or Music Therapist, who are all available within the program for therapy and consultative service to the students and staff.
The classrooms at Seven Hills Academy at Devens are multi-age and organized according to the developmental, educational, and social abilities of each student.
